World Environment Day 2021 Commemoration

Joint World Environment Day and World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought 2021 commemoration held at Ndlandlameni, Bulunga on the 4th June 2021 under the theme; ECOSYSTEM RESTORATION.

Ecosystem restoration means assisting in the recovery of ecosystems that have been degraded or destroyed, as well as conserving or enhancing the ecosystems that are still intact. Healthier ecosystems, with richer biodiversity, yield greater benefits such as more fertile soils, bigger yields, and provide larger stores of greenhouse gases.

The venue for the event was a true reflection to the theme as earlier during the day the community and participants engaged in restoring a wetland by reintroducing species which will enhance the rehabilitation process. Much appreciation goes to the community of Ndlandlameni who took the initiative to apply to the environment fund and further forsake their own household chores in order to ensure that the restoration activities happened on time.

The commemoration was held in the presence of the Honourable Minister of Tourism and Environmental Affairs, Moses Vilakati, Hononarable Minister of Agriculture, Jabulani Mabuza
