Convention on Desertification The Convention on Desertification was signed by Swaziland in 1992 The objective of the convention is to combat desertification worldwide and mitigate the effects in countries experiencing serious draught and/or desertification, particularly in Africa. This must be done by effective action at all levels and be supported by international co-operation and partnership arrangements in the framework of integrated approach.

National Action Programme – Convention on Desertification
Affected countries like Swaziland shall as appropriate prepare, make public and implement national action programmes utilising and building on existing relevant plans and programmes as central element of the strategy to combat dersetification and mitigate the effects of drought.
World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought Every year 17th June the day is organized in order to raise awareness and to promote international collaboration to combat the effects of drought and desertification. All around the world different activities is held among several stakeholders such as Country Parties to the Convention, non-governmental organizations and international. |
